About the salmon

For every 50 dollars you donate, I will send a thank you gift of wild-caught salmon from Alaska – hand smoked and canned by my family. The salmon is caught by a woman owned fishing boat right out of the pristine waters of Alaska’s Cook Inlet, from one of the world's most sustainably managed fisheries. We cured, smoked, and canned this salmon using a homesteader recipe. You can enjoy it using some of these recipes!

Salmon are, of course, a symbol of migration and – in Alaska – gifts of salmon are a huge part of building community.

If you’re tired of the ugliness and misinformation about immigrants in the US, please help welcome these wonderful families into our community by donating today! Our goal is to raise $3,000 total – these will cover the costs of the required medical exams to apply for permanent residency, and other associated resettlement costs, expenses that are out of reach for these families.

The salmon is from just outside Kachemak Bay in the Cook Inlet
